The base is too small. The raised hump makes it hard for them to try to perch and eat. I only feed sunflower seed, and the openings are too small to make that fall out for eating easily. I have the birds hitting the clear panels trying to figure out how to get out the seeds. One upside, they are now eating out of the other feeder that they didn't like so much before...but the base on it is flat and sunflower seed easily comes out of the openings and makes it easier for birds to perch and eat. It's a beautiful feeder, and I love that's it is made in USA, but I bought it off of the reviews. I'm sorry I did.

This was a gift for my boss, who is a Veterinarian. So hard to buy for him. Got this for his summer home in the country. Him and his wife love watching the exotic birds it attracts, and it's huge! Pretty much fill it once a season. He really loved it. I might get one for myself, too!

Thank you so much for the birdhouse. I bought it because my grandson wanted a birdhouse at his home. He loved it!
