Birds Thank You

I live on small lake and boaters ask me where to buy since Sky Cafe Bluebird Feeder is so cute. Good construction through heat & wind. Great customer service.

Bluebird feeder blues

I ordered this birdfeeder on Feb. 14, 2022. I was having bluebirds and the feeder I was using was not keeping the mealworms dry as well as not keeping the grackles out of them and they were eating me out of house and home. This feeder was a quite pricey I thought but I liked the looks of it and I thought that it would work. What a mistake. Paid almost $100 for this feeder and there is not ONE bird that will go into it. It does keep the grackles out along and the meal worms dry but what good is it if the birds you want to go into it, won't use it. Needless to say, I am very upset about spending this kind of money for nothing. Maybe had it been a $50 feeder it wouldn't have been so bad but almost $100 no way!! I have no problems with the company. It shipped quickly and looks just like it shows in the picture but I personally believe that the the squares that the birds would go into are not even close to being big enough, even for the bluebirds. Just wanted to warn everyone before they would buy it.

The Birdhouse Chick

So sorry you’re unhappy with the Sky Cafe Bluebird Feeder. Yes, they’re pricey and expensive to ship due to size. Your could try placing a dowel (or small branch) trough the feeder above tray where bluebirds could land & scope out the feeder without going inside yet. As far as the cage (grid size)- it is 1.5” and meant for bluebirds. I believe the feeder comes with a pole mount attachment. Keeping it stable (rather than hanging) might also lure bluebirds easier. The Gilbertson hanging feeder has about 40+ 5 -star reviews. A totally different design (by a bluebird conservationist).

PRO AND CON

I hoped this feeder would appeal to our resident bluebirds, but they ignored it. Service and delivery were excellent, product as ordered and on time.

The Birdhouse Chick

Maybe give your bluebirds more time- they're not always keen on entering a feeder at first. Place a small branch or long twig through the bottom so it rests on either side of the cup, sticking out a few inches beyond the tray. The birds may perch to check it out without actually touching it. Also placing a few worms outside of the cup may lure the bluebirds. Please check the website Sialis.org for more ideas on enticing bluebirds to go inside of a mealworm feeder.
